The Summary
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.
Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.
"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."
But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

My Opinion
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It started out with action right away. Bianca runs away from Evernight Academy, which instantly makes the reader start questioning, and you never stop! The plot is what really makes the book great. You think you know what's going and then BAM everything switches. The way that Gray did this was genius and the only way you saw it coming was if you knew about the series. Seriously, I didn't see the switch coming at all and that's all I can say without spoiling it!
Bianca (I love that name by the way) is a great protagonist. I think she's funny, sweet, a little sarcastic, but full of strength. I would love to be her friend because she is faithful and protective. The connection she shares with Lucas feels organic. Everyone always complains about "insta-love", but that isn't what this is. Gray writes the relationship exactly how I remember feeling at 17. Yes, Bianca and Lukas have a connection and it feels so large and engrossing that they never want to be apart. But what Gray does right is write the fights and the distance that can happen. This is what makes the "insta-love" real for me, as a reader who hates "insta-love" (ala Twilight though, so that makes sense).
All I can say is that I am really happy I have the next three books in the series, because I can't wait to see what happens with all the stuff you learn in Evernight! If you are looking for a really great supernatural romance, then pick up Evernight. You'll become hooked!
