Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we seriously can’t wait for.


 Here's my pick for the week, that I seriously can't wait for:



From bestselling, Printz Award-winning author Libba Bray, come the story of a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes on a desert island.  
Teen beauty queens. A "Lost"-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

I think this book sounds awesome!  Libba Bray is a hilarious writer.  If you've read Going Bovine, you know that.  Beauty Queens looks like it's going to have the mix of supernatural and reality just as Going Bovine.  I also zeroed in on the "Lost"-like island immediately.  I love "Lost", so extra points for that.  All in all this sounds like a funny and dangerous adventure filled with the most unlikely participants: beauty queens!

    i love the premise of this book. i really liked libba's gemma doyle series and i'm excited to read this contemporary by her. great pick!
