"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Past. Present. Future. (15)

There are a a lot of these "What're you reading?" features around, so I figured, hey why not start one too? Basically, here's where I highlight the books I've read, the books I'm reading, and the books I'm going to read. Fun, right? Please join in if you want!

PAST:
Scorch by Gina Damico - Second book in the Croak series.  Picking up where the story left off, there is so much more going on!  The world Damico has made is so engrossing, and I want more!  I'm so happy that there is another book coming out because I have to know what happens to Lex and Driggs and Uncle Mort!  I've come to be really invested in this comedic horror (or is it horrifying comedy?), and I think everyone should read it!
Send by Patti Blount - This book was intense.  Like super intense.  It detailed the journey of a boy who's whole life is changed by the click of the mouse.  The topic is really current and really hard to read about for both the victim and the bully.  Bullying is such an epidemic within society now, I think this book may bring light many  repercussions of such acts.  I was aching over the ending, and the horrible events happening to each of the characters, but there is always a sense of hope underneath everything. It is really well written, and is one of my favorite contemporaries.

PRESENT:
The Diviners by Libba Bray - I started this yesterday, and I am already hooked!  I just know I'm going to love this world Bray has introduced.  Flappers, murders, and special powers all together?  Yes please!  Of course it is a hulk of a book, so it may take me awhile, but then again the story is fast-paced so maybe not!

FUTURE:
Speechless by Hannah Harrington - I just got this book last week, but it's been on my TBR list for much longer.  The cover really is that simple, but it is gorgeous up close.  It also holds a story that sounds so amazing!  It reminds me of Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson somewhat, especially with it's intensity.  I can't wait to read it!

If any of you've read any of these books, let me know what you thought (but NO spoilers) down below in the comments!
